Neuma Terms of Service

Effective Date: April 30, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Neuma mobile application ("the App"), provided by Vizualkei LLC ("we", "us", "our"). By installing or using the App you agree to these Terms.

1. What the App Does

Neuma is a privacy-protecting identification system. It enables you, an end user of one of our partners, to prove your identity to a partner service without disclosing your personal information to that service or to Vizualkei. All identification work happens on your device; the only thing the App ever transmits is a zero-knowledge cryptographic proof of the verification outcome — the proof contains no personally identifiable information (PII) and cannot be reversed to reveal the underlying data.

To produce that proof, the App, with your explicit per-request consent:

The App does not perform identification on anyone other than the device's user. It is intended exclusively for self-authentication to a partner service.

2. Data Accessed and How It Is Handled

Mobile driver license data

When you initiate a verification, the App requests the following org.iso.18013.5.1 data elements from your wallet, with explicit per-request consent shown by Google Wallet:

Live face capture

The live face image is captured by the device camera solely for the purpose of comparison with your mDL portrait.

Typed knowledge-based challenge input

If the App challenges you to type your first name, last name, or date of birth, your typed values are held in the App's working memory only for the duration of the comparison. They are never written to persistent storage, never transmitted, and never hashed for any purpose. They are released from memory as soon as the comparison completes or you navigate away.

Privacy-protecting handling: All processing happens on the device. The disclosed mDL values, the live face capture, and any typed challenge input are held only for the duration of the verification session. The live face image may be written to local working storage to enable processing and is deleted immediately after the comparison completes. No personally identifiable information is transmitted to Vizualkei servers, third parties, or any cloud service. The only thing the App may transmit, after a verification completes, is a zero-knowledge cryptographic proof of the outcome — the proof contains no PII, cannot be reversed to reveal the underlying data, and is bound to the verification session in which it was produced. No PII and no derived form of PII (such as a hash) is retained.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the App only for lawful self-authentication to a partner service that has chosen to integrate with Neuma. You will not:

4. Your Rights

You may decline to share your mDL or to capture a live face image at any point. Doing so cancels the verification session; no data is retained either way.

Because the App does not transmit or persistently store personal data, there is no Vizualkei-held record to access, export, correct, or delete. You can revoke camera permission at any time through your device settings, and you can stop using the App at any time.

5. Partner Services

Neuma is initiated on behalf of a partner that has asked you to verify your identity (for example, a financial, healthcare, or marketplace service). When a verification completes, the App transmits to the partner only a zero-knowledge cryptographic proof of the verification outcome. The proof attests to the result (for example, that the on-device biometric and knowledge-based checks succeeded) without containing your name, date of birth, portrait, mDL data, or any other personally identifiable information, and it cannot be reversed to derive any of that data. The proof is cryptographically bound to the partner's specific request so it cannot be replayed to or accepted by a different service. Vizualkei does not receive or relay any user PII; the proof flows from your device to the partner you are interacting with. Vizualkei is not responsible for the partner's collection, retention, or use of any verification result they receive.

6. No Warranty

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that biometric comparison results are free from error, that the App is suitable for any particular regulatory purpose, or that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. You are solely responsible for any decision you or any partner makes on the basis of the App's output.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vizualkei LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, data, or business arising from your use of the App. Vizualkei LLC's total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms is limited to one hundred US dollars ($100).

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Effective Date" at the top of this page will be updated and the current version posted at the same URL. Continued use of the App after a change indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California.
